Statements from students who went on the SCCS/Soquel High School Yosemite trip:
“On this trip I’ve learned a lot about myself, and I have gotten a bit of self esteem. I really like the people on the trip. Now that I have done this trip and have made it up really big hills I know I can do whatever I want. I have learned so much on this trip. In a weird way this place was a fantasy land I have always wanted to go to.”

“On this trip I have learned that I do not like all these annoying mosquitoes. I have also learned that we have to have patience for one another. But one really important thing that I believe I have learned is to not give up when things get hard. It is very easy to want to give up when things are hard, but it is better to just stick to it and finish.
Today I was feeling like I wanted to give up, and I’m really glad I didn’t. If I had given up I wouldn’t have seen this pretty spot that we are at. I also wouldn’t have done the trust walk, and that was fun and also really funny. I have had the best time here, and I do believe I will do it again.

“My favorite part of this trip has been when we hike up mountains. Climbing up them is hard and you get really tired, but the feeling of accomplishment is great. And, when you look down at the view and see what you have done, it’s a pretty good feeling. All the trees and creeks and rivers are really nice to look at.”

“One thing I learned on this trip was to not give up when things get hard. We had a couple of really hard days and almost everyone wanted to quit. But we all had to stick to it and finish. And the feeling of finishing something is a really good feeling. So next time when things in life get hard I will try to work through my problems and not give up. I had fun on this trip and I would like to do it again.”

“On this trip you learn so much about yourself. You’re able to do things you thought you would never be able to do.”
